Best is currently producing three large-scale 'standing stone' sculptures for his Degree Show. These are to be accompanied by three photographic prints, acting as a 'print for a sculpture', a marrying of the two mediums, photography and sculpture.
Best is in the process of creating wooden armatures to form the structure of his sculptures. These armatures will then be wrapped in chicken wire to form the shape of the structure, to then be covered in plaster to further create and mould the stone shape. The plaster will have a mixture of grey, green and brown dyes to mimic that of a standing stone, and to heighten immersion.
The stones will be positioned as a stone circle, inviting the viewer into the circle to view each sculpture and their accompanying print. The prints are to be hung with string from the ceiling, to create the illusion that they are suspended within mid-air, harnessing the great powers from the stones they are situated amongst.
