Jarvis Best is an interdisciplinary artist currently based between Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent, UK. His practice encompasses photography, moving image, sculpture and installation, and explores themes of folklore and the human connection to nature.
Best is co-founder and in-house photographer for New Folklore Nights (est. 2024), a music and arts collective based in Manchester. They organise immersive club nights, highlighting local artist talent, and have organised five events as of 2026.
Best is currently studying in his final year of BA (Hons) Photography at the University of Salford, and is undertaking his Final Major Project titled 'The Living Stones'. He utilises analogue methods within his lens-based art, favouring the more methodical and considered approach of film photography. He has embraced the medium-format film camera as part of 'The Living Stones', which has allowed him to become more engaged in the environments he photographs, aligning himself with the natural world, and to the folklore that surrounds sacred stone sites.
